Design Guy
www.cabanahome.com A successful self-made business 'guy' with a passion for art, architecture and design. My passion for design began in the 2nd Grade. My Dad was transferred to a new town, and our new home was the first house built in the development. As I watched 38 more homes built, I was curious from the 'get-go'. I would get lost in fantasy imagining what the house would be like when finished, would the owners have kids, what room is this going to be, and the ultimate annoyance to the contractor: "Hey Mister, how'd you do that?"; "Hey Mister, when'r ya gonna be finished?". I fell in love with houses, and in the 7th grade, my Math teacher threatened to kick me out of class for drawing house plans. On hearing this, Mom asked the teacher, "but, are they good?" You've got to love Mom! "I love balance and scale, and believe that each of these are layers of things seen and not seen. Color, texture, and light layered in a way that you cannot see, but your eye knows that something is right." The Design Guy is the President of, and Co-Founder with his wife Caroline, of the Cabana Home Stores of California, and lives in Santa Barbara, CA.
